Land of Dreams
Calgary Catholic Immigration Society’s Land of Dreams offers the unique opportunity to build connections between Indigenous peoples and newcomers through the development and cultivation of a community garden. The Land of Dreams is a meaningful space for Calgary newcomers to rekindle their roots and build a sense of community while learning about and appreciating Alberta’s Indigenous history.

“What a powerful day it was at CCIS’ Land of Dreams in southeast Calgary! We came together for the annual Tipi raising ceremony, a symbol of our deep connection to the land.
Under the wise guidance of Elder Herman Many Guns from the Blackfoot Confederacy, we paid our respects to the land and offered our gratitude. Together, we raised the Tipi, securing it firmly with ground pegs—a physical representation of our commitment to nurturing this special connection.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Elder Many Guns and his invaluable oskâpêwis (helper), Adrian Goulet, also known as wâpi mahegun nâpew (White Wolf Man), for sharing their wisdom and making this day truly extraordinary. ”
Thank you for the invitation CCIS! Grateful to support this important work over the years.
